Take me out to the ball game....

Life is like a game of softball and it's your turn to go up to bat.

Pitch 1. Goes wide but you swing at it anyway. STRIKE ONE! Never mind you learn from your mistakes.
Pitch 2. Too high, but you see this and let it go. BALL ONE. Success on your part. Congrats
Pitch 3. Life has just thrown you a curve ball. Will you notice in time or is it too late?

The aim of the game is to hit the ball, get around all the bases safely and get home. Home in the game of life is living it to the full, having done everything you could have and achieving all your goals and ambitions. It is about making it home in one piece, to be able to say that your life or run was a great one.

Base 1: Get through school with qualifications
Base 2: Find a career that you love and that means something to you
Base 3: Fall in love and start your own ball game with your own little team.

But in real life things never work out the way they should. You might miss first base, go right round to third, back to second and head home. But that's OK in the game of life. It's the getting home that counts, the bases are added bonuses.

OK, so maybe the about life vs. softball analogy isn't the best. But I like to think it has some truth to it. Just when you think you know whats going on, what you want to do with your life, a curveball is just around the corner. There is no such thing as a predictable innings. Life (AKA the pitcher) will throw all sorts of things at you. It is however up to you to sort the good balls from the rubbish ones, choose which ball you want and go with it to see where you will end up.

Curve balls can turn up when you least expect them. In life they can come in the form of financial woes, family troubles, friendship breakups and uncertainty among other things.

The curve is coming, whether you want it to or not. The question is will you let it sail by, or will you swing at it, face it straight on and say "Go on, I dare you. Do your worst".
